Day 2 in China; Part I: We Tour

I'm gonna try a different layout and see how this works for my blog. The day started early, 3:30. this is the shot outside my window. Notice how few cars and lights there are. Remember there are 21 million people living in this city. Not many lights and no one on the streets. Very interesting.
So we want to go to the market. We first travel down the alley outside the hotel...

Across the busy street where there are people, old bikes, carts, rickshaws and cars. It's like anyplace else, you just watch where you walk and remember these words: Bu Jong Shea. (No thank you!) because they are going to sell you stuff. Did you know Bolex is a very special watch? they sell them here. I think they are like Rolex only cheaper. Want luggage? Mah Jongg? Very good price for you. How much you pay? How much? Hello. You buy? Over here best deal.

But you are walking into the special court yard. The street vendors don't pass the entry gate. We're safe. Inside the gate, they just call out from the shops. You buy? Special deal!

This is the building we ate in last night. Very interesting architecture in the day time. It's a festival day and there are folks everywhere. And what do you do at festivals? You eat. And you eat good. Now if we went to the Leavenworth county fair grounds, we would have funnel cakes, and hot dogs, and cotton candy and turkey legs and well, just good stuff!
Here's a happy vendor. This is China. This is festival day. Let's take a look. Something smells...well...different. What is in that steaming bowl. I am thinking it's something special. Is it...could it be...yes I think if you look close, you will see...is it....can it be....well yes...it is! That's a dead chicken in that bowl! But wait...I think there's more...
At the next booth that sure looks like octopus on the left there....why yes it is...and in that boiling pot...is it...could it be....

YES! It is a pot of dumplings boiling in there with the cow head! Now I don't know what that cow is doing, but it sure beats the Leavenworth county fair. We need a cow head at the fair next year! These guys know who to put on a real fair. I'm going to get them to serve up food in downtown Tongie!
